2016 Black Friday Forecast
The UK forecast for Black Friday, the biggest online shopping event of the year is expected to be a whopping £6.77bn over the peak period of Monday 21st – Monday 28th November 2016. £1.27bn is to be spent on Black Friday alone in the UK which is a 16% rise on the same day last year. It is also expected that the mobile spend split will be higher than last year with 51% of shoppers taking to their phone or tablet to grab the best deals.
Numbers Compared To 2015
The estimated spend for 2015 for the 4 day peak weekend was £3.3bn with £1.1bn spent on Black Friday alone, £561m on the Saturday, £676m on the Sunday and finally £968m on Cyber Monday.
Black Friday Is Here For Good
Black Friday is now a firm fixture in the UK after it followed the US’s tradition back in 2014, more retailers each year are joining in the event by slashing prices for one day only, although many retailers are using the buzz to offers discounts and deals over the whole weekend, with Amazon starting 11 days early!
Who’s Offering The Best Deals
With almost all online retailers in the UK joining in the event, many are competing to offer the best prices and discounts to their customers. Higher margin items such as fashion brands are expected to offer up to 70% discounts, whilst electrical retailers are expected to slash up to 40% off selected products. Popular electrical items such as Apple products, the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 are expected to only see discounts on bundle deals.
