History of Blacks

Blacks' beginnings are as adventurous as their customer's lives. Thomas Black was an ambitious Scotsman who travelled to Australia seeking his fortune as a gold prospector. Further travels led to his settlement in Scotland as a sail maker. His son later developed the business to include the manufacture of tents which were used by the army in two world wars including the D-Day landings.
The post-war period saw the acquisition of smaller companies leading to the formation of the Black Leisure Group PLC in 1985. In 1994, Blacks Camping became Blacks Outdoors and later bought the Outdoor Group which included Millets

Since 2011, Blacks and blacks.co.uk have been owned by the JD Sports Fashion PLC. This has heralded a move in to other outdoor sports including running and skiing in keeping with the group's broad sporting strengths as a retailer. This has in turn led to a greater range of brands sold within Blacks.

Blacks is now known for a broad range of specialist equipment for all outdoor sports and pursuits with helpful, experienced trained staff and great customer service. Blacks.co.uk is the online store selling a wide range of clothing and equipment found in store. The website offers competitive prices and offers with regular voucher codes and competitions.

Gift cards can be purchased through the website and can be redeemed in any of the 600+ JD group stores which include Millets, JD Sports, Scotts, Tessuti and Bank.

Delivery Information

Standard delivery to the UK is £3.99 on orders up to £100 and free afterwards. Standard delivery is between 3-5 working days. Blacks.co.uk also operate a free click and collect with delivery to one of its 90 stores when you order online.

Returns Policy

Goods can be returned within 14 days of purchase. A small delivery charge will be applied for all items that are not faulty. Swimwear and underwear cannot be returned unless faulty.
Goods can be returned to store for free within 28 days with a valid despatch note. The store will be able to exchange the goods or refund the purchase.
The Collect+ scheme is recommended when returning your order. Simply take your purchase to one of the 500+ stores and create a returns label. You will receive proof of postage, online tracking and compensation cover up to £50.
