Burton Menswear London is a large and popular high street clothing retailer with stores throughout the United Kingdom. Burton stores can often be found in city centres and within shopping centres, as well as having expanded to out of town sites. With over 400 stores, they are one of the nation's most popular high street menswear retailers and can often be found alongside popular retailers for womenswear. The company has come to be associated with a fashionable and modern trendsetting image, and tends to be favoured by young adults, offering a wide range of contemporary brand names.
The Burton Company was founded in 1903 in Chesterfield, by Montague Burton. It began life as The Cross-Tailoring Company and in 1929 was even listed on the London Stock Exchange. By the early 20th century, the company had 400 stores, factories and mills to its name, and was so well known that its Leeds factory had a 1934 royal visit. Although the company changed its name in 1998 to Arcadia Groups upon being purchased in the mid-1990s by the retailing company of the same name, the storefronts still contain the trademark Burton logo. The Arcadia Group also owns a number of other high street clothing retailer, including Topman and Topshop.
In the mid 20th century, Montague Burton's creations began to develop their own trademark trendsetting style. Men were offered a full suit: jacket, trousers, waistcoat, shirt and even underwear. This unusual opportunity became known as The Full Monty; Montague Burton's thorough full-suit is cited as one of the possible origins of the British slang phrase ‚Ǩ≈ìThe Full Monty‚Ǩù which became synonymous with the idea of ‚Ǩ≈ìthe full works.‚Ǩù By 1952, Burton's company had become the largest multiple tailor in the world and has continued to hold popularity throughout the UK ever since. The England National Football Team were supplied by Burton for the 1966 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro Championships in 1996 and in the FIFA World Cup of 2002.

Aside from the formal section of its online store, Burton also provides more casual forms of clothing, including jeans, lounge wear, knitwear, nightwear, T-shirts and underwear. Socks, shorts, swimwear, slippers and onesies are available from the casual sections, and formal wear also includes trousers and blazers. Burton online also features a category for shoes, from informal plimsolls and trainers to formal brogues, leather shoes and boots. Burton promises security and peace of mind for customers paying for their Burton products online. To ensure that you are provided with a safe shopping experience on Burton.co.uk, the company works in conjunction with Mastercard and their secure payment system is verified by Visa, following the same principles as the chip and PIN service in stores. This helps to protects your card from fraud and stop unauthorised use. Some banks may not have introduced the above security measure - although most banks will take part in it - and for anybody whose bank has yet to adopt this policy you will be able to contact your bank directly and register for the Mastercard SecureCode security scheme.
