Chessington World of Adventures now has over 40 rides, but the site was only home to the prestigious Chessington Lodge until animal enthusiast Reginald opened Chessington Zoo, which featured his private animal collection, in 1931. Chessington World of Adventures Theme Park didn't follow until 1987, but has continued to expand, adding new rides and events to the theme park every year. In 2007, the Holiday Inn Chessington opened, which is the safari-themed hotel at the Chessington Resort. A new SEA LIFE centre was also added to Chessington in 2008, and in 2011 some eight sharks were added to its waters. In 2014, the resort has seen the biggest investment ever, after £15 million was invested in the attraction.

Ticket Information

Holiday packages booked online will receive a confirmation email and an e-ticket for your day. These should be printed at home, as the PDFs contain barcodes that allow you access to the Park, Zoo and SEA LIFE Centre. On arrival at Chessington World of Adventures, please present your PDF ticket at the turnstiles to gain access to the park.

Returns Policy

If you wish to cancel your holiday you can make any cancellations through Holiday Extras on the Chessington Holidays website, while any changes may be subject to conditions and charges. If you cancel within 24 hours of booking you will receive a complete refund, if you cancel more than 14 days in advance of arrival you will lose 25% of the total booking cost, if you cancel within four to 14 days of arrival you will lose 50% of the total cost, if you cancel within one to three days of arrival you will lose 75% of the total booking, and if you cancel on the day of arrival there will be no refund. Chessington Holidays do, however, offer an insurance policy that you can purchase at the time of booking. For £7.95, you have the freedom to cancel your booking without any charges up to 36 hours before your holiday is due to start. However, if you wish to cancel your holiday and you have the policy, you must cancel the booking by telephone.
