History of Ideal World

Founded by Paul Wright and Val Kaye, Ideal World started business as a mail order company in the 1980s, selling goods through newspaper adverts and consumer exhibitions under the name of Wrightway Marketing. Eventually, the company produced its own catalogues, inserted into mainstream newspapers such as the Daily Mail, and sold produce at the Ideal Home exhibition.

Ideal World was launched in 2000 as a 24-hour channel, and with its wide range of products in many varying fields quickly became a favourite for TV shoppers in the UK.

In 2003, Create and Craft - focusing on art, design and textile products - was launched as a sister channel to Ideal World, and Ideal Vitality began broadcasting the following year, selling items based around beauty and lifestyle.

In 2013, Ideal World raised over £130,000 as part of their "Shop for GOSH" campaign, contributing largely towards funding Great Ormond Street Hospital's new Neurosensory Lab, which continues to help ease the suffering of children experiencing chronic pain.

Delivery Information

After placing your order online, your items are generally despatched within three to five working days. This is the usual delivery period for most retailers. Remember to allow time for Sundays and bank holidays where relevant.

For most deliveries, someone will need to be present to accept and sign for the order to ensure the products have been successfully delivered and received. If for any reason you cannot be present to sign for your delivery, you may be able to provide alternative delivery instructions during the checkout process for the delivery drivers to leave items with a neighbour. Returns Policy

A large majority of Ideal World's products are eligible for return and refunding. For some items there are certain criteria that must be met; for example, CDs or computer software may not be refunded if the pack is unsealed. Items that are not eligible for refund include perishables (foods or plants), personalised or customised items and concert or event tickets. Returns must be made 14 days after the date of delivery. In the case of a multiple-item order, the return should be made 14 days after the delivery of the last item. To cancel your order, you must inform the company of your decision in the form of a clear statement, such as in a phone call or a letter or email. In these cases, remember to quote your order number when advising cancellation. Once your order has been cancelled, Ideal World will refund you the paid price of your goods, including the cost of delivery.

The Ideal World website encrypts any confidential information provided by customers - this includes personal information and bank details. Ideal World's 128 bit encryption supports most browsers, and scrambles the information and turns it temporarily into billions of code combinations, rendering information passed to Ideal World useless to anyone wanting to steal that information.
