PhotoBox is an online photo printing company offering a variety of products including photobooks, canvases and cards. It is Europe's leading online digital photo service and has over 30 million customers.
PhotoBox allows customers to personalise an array of products with their own digital photos such as photobooks, mugs, wall art, calendars and phone cases. They aim to not only sell products, but offer a memorable experience for their customers by ensuring that all their products offer the best possible quality and are delivered in a timely fashion. They take their customer service very seriously and their founding principle was to treat customers with the same respect as friends or family. PhotoBox offers great value and usually has regular voucher codes available to get fantastic deals on their products.
It was founded in 2000 by Graham Hobson and Mark Chapman. They came up with the idea while on a family weekend away after realising they wanted a service that could print their photos online and a family dream has since turned into a multi-national business.
PhotoBox initially operated from a garage in Clerkenwell, London. It was operated by Hobson and Chapman with the help of their families. They have spent the last 15 years acquiring businesses and creating a supergroup of photo product based companies called the PhotoBox Group. In 2006, PhotoBox merged with French online photo printing service Photoways. By 2007, PhotoBox services were available in 20 countries including Australia, Canada and USA with two offices in the UK and Paris.
In 2011, PhotoBox merged with Moonpig, an online greeting card company. It was at this point that they created the PhotoBox Group. They launched their cards and invitations service Papershaker in 2012. Then, in 2013 StickyGram also became part of the PhotoBox Group. The company, now called Sticky9, focuses on photo products based on Instagram. In December 2014 the group acquired Spain's leading photobook producer Hofmann.
In 2014 alone, PhotoBox produced more than 18 million cards and more than 2 million photobooks. Their first iPhone app was made available in 2011 and their first mobile website was launched in 2012.
In 2011 PhotoBox were involved in a project called 'Face Britain'. This was a national project whereby young people were asked to submit a self-portrait drawing of themselves. These were then projected onto Buckingham Palace.
